A Letter to T After His First Week of School

My Dearest,

This week, you started on the biggest journey of your life so far; School.

It’s an incredibly exciting time for you – something you keep reminding me – you’re finally going into “Big Kid” school! You’re no longer my baby – something else you tell me on a weekly basis – but instead a bright and confident little boy. Ready to take on the world.

The thing is though, I’m really going to miss you.

See, four years doesn’t seem that long, but in that time we’ve been through so much together.

Do you remember?  Continue reading

An Interview With T at Three

You may remember last year I was tagged by Lauren from Scrapbook Blog to take part in a little interview with T just as he was turning three. It was really cute and I was astounded at how much his personality shone through at such an early age. Not to mention how his language was coming along.

Now that a year has passed, I thought I’d do it again, just before turning four, and share the differences in comparison to last year’s. I’m hoping to make a regular thing of this.

Just like last time, we sat down after breakfast and asked him the following questions, writing down exactly what he said…

Milestones: Four Year Update

Here we are again, in what feels like a flash of light, recapping on the past twelve months.

I’m very aware that I say this every year, but I can’t believe how quickly time is flying. I think this year has been the most prominent, not only because he’s changed significantly this year, but we’ve now entered into the home stretch towards starting school.

For us, and most parents, this is a HUGE milestone and signifies what feels like the end of the “baby years”. Of course this is ridiculous, the baby years likely ended as soon as they started toddling, but in my head, because Sharon and I are his primary go-to people, because he spends the majority of his time with us, it feels like an end of an era.

It feels like yesterday I used to spend my days at baby groups.

Milestones: Three Year Update

Just when I thought things can’t move any faster, our son is now Three. Comparing it to all the other years, last year especially, I am confident that this has been the fastest year yet.

You’d think that after settling into our routine after T started nursery when he turned one that things would have slowed down and continued at a nice pace, but no. Things have only moved faster. Due to a combination of busy weekends, holidays, and general milestones happening weekly, we pretty much hit the ground running every day.

Whilst this is fun and it’s great that we’re never bored – several times throughout this year I could have done with a pause button. Our days are flying by and our baby is growing up way too fast for my liking. It’s hard to keep track of everything and there are days when I look at Sharon and ask; When did he start doing that? or When was the last time he did this? I miss that.

T at Two and a Half!

I didn’t actually plan on doing one of these until T was at least three, however over the past six months since he turned the big zero-two our not-so-little boy has changed so much! From his language to his character to the way he reacts to situations. Two and a half has become such a huge milestone in his development that I don’t want to keep quiet about it.

I just can’t believe how much he’s changed in such a short space of time – physically and mentally! Things are happening where I say to myself; “Were you doing that yesterday?” or “I didn’t know you could do that?”.

An Interview with T at Two!

A few weeks a go, I was tagged by Lauren to interview T and ask him a series of questions.

At first I was unsure, as I didn’t know whether T would comprehend them – making for a very boring interview and blog post – but over the past week his language has come along in leaps and bounds, so I thought I’d give it a go!

So one morning after breakfast (it’s no good getting him to do anything before breakfast!) I sat T down and asked him the following questions, writing down exactly what he said…

What’s the best thing about being 2?

Running!

What makes you laugh?

Ambulance. No idea.

Who do you love and why?

Mummies.

What’s your favourite book?

 *points at Dear Zoo*

Favourite food?

Banana.

Favourite song?

 *random singing*

Favourite outfit?

 Shirt!

Favourite TV programme?

Bing! No. Duggee. Erm. LerLoos (Twirlywoos).

Favourite toy?

TRAIN! Bus. Train. Yes.

Favourite thing to do?

Bike.

So that was fun – maybe I’ll do something similar each year and see how his answers change (or stay the same!)

I tag Amy, Dawn, Lucy, Jade and Emily, but if you’d like to join in please do – I’d love to see the answers!
