Detective Agency by Osmo #OsmoSocialClub [AD – Review]

For Easter this year, we were invited to test out another interactive kit by Osmo. This time, we tried out their Detective Agency kit. In line with Easter celebrations, they were encouraging those part of their #OsmoSocialClub to add a little Easter twist to their play. Whether it was drawing Easter Eggs via their Studio Drawing Kit or finding an Easter Bunny using Tangram pieces as part of their Genius Starter Kit, there was lots of fun to be had.
Over the past few months, we’ve been very lucky to have been invited to test out a number of Osmo kits. They’ve been an excellent way to spend time at home when we haven’t been allowed to go out or when the weather hasn’t been that great!
As well as their Genius Starter Kit, you can find our review of Osmo’s Coding Starter Kit here.
Put your Detective hat on.
If you’re not familiar with Osmo, they believe in Embodied Learning through physical-digital interactions. Using their dock and attachable camera, that integrates an iPad or Fire tablet, players use objects from the real world to interact with the digital world shown on their screen. They encourage users to learn through hands-on experiences, whilst also fostering social-emotional skills like problem-solving, creativity and perseverance!
The Detective Agency invites you to “put on your detective hat and get ready to solve the case! Travel to six famous cities, inspect hundreds of clues with your magnifying glass, and learn about geography and landmarks around the world!“
An exciting mystery around the world!
If you already have an Osmo kit, don’t worry. You can simply buy this kit as an additional add-on. Included in the Detective Agency kit is the following:
- 8 colourful maps.
- Magnifying glass.
- Map holder.
Using the bright and colourful maps, as well as your handy magnifying glass, you embark on an exciting mystery around the world. Think; an interactive Where’s Wally! There’s so much attention to detail.
Just like their other kits, this one encourages learning through play. This time, you’re not only learning about different countries, but also the cultures within it. With every clue you’ll learn something new, whether it’s to do with the landmark you’ve just found or a piece of food or clothing.
In comparison to their other kits, we play with the Detective Agency of an evening when we’re just winding down for the night. It’s a fun little game that you can pick up and put down later on.
Just when we thought Osmo couldn’t get any better, we find the Detective Agency. It’s something that bit different, whilst maintaining that focus on learning through interactive play. We love how colourful the maps are, as well as how fun the story is throughout the game.
We were sent the Osmo Detective Agency in exchange for an honest review and promotion on our social channels. All views, thought and opinions, as well as images, are our own.
