Sometimes, things don’t pan out exactly as you’d imagine they would when you travel or head off on holiday.
Things can go wrong, airlines can disappoint you, people can get sick or the hotel might not live up to expectations. There are all kinds of things that can happen, and combating them properly is usually a good idea.
We’ve put together some advice about the things you can do after returning from a holiday nightmare…
Contact your insurance provider
The first thing you should do is contact the insurance company that your travel insurance policy is provided by. By getting them involved at the earliest opportunity, you’ll give them less grounds to ultimately refuse your claim.
Be sure to give them all of the information they need and do what you can to push the process along if they seem to be dragging their feet.
Log your complaint with the relevant companies
Logging all of your complaints is something that’ll help you a lot when it comes to seeking compensation or refunds later on. You need to make sure that you’re making it clear what the problem is and letting them know what went wrong and why you feel you’re due a refund and an apology.
Don’t waste any time in letting these companies know about your experience if they were partially responsible for them.
Contact industry regulators too!
It’s also a good idea to contact the regulatory bodies that oversee the travel industry. There are different industry bodies that perform these duties in different countries, so do some research and see who you should contact.
It’s a good idea to do this especially if the companies that are responsible for what went wrong seem to be refusing to take responsibility for your holiday nightmare.
If the situation is truly serious, consider legal avenues
If you find yourself in a really serious situation and a family member passed away while in another country, you should pursue all legal avenues for justice. There are some of the best lawyers for wrongful death cases out there who’ll be able to help with this.
Heaven forbid you should need their services, but if you do, only the best will suffice.
Know your rights and uphold them
It’s important to know your rights and to be willing to stand up for them. If you feel that your consumer rights were violated and ignored, there’s nothing at all wrong with wanting to make sure that the people responsible are held to account and that you’re given the refund that you’re due. So even if you face some obstacles along the way, don’t give up until justice is done.
Be sure to make the most of the advice discussed above if you’ve faced any problems while travelling.
You don’t need to simply suck up the bad times and deal with it; there are many instances for which you can seek compensation. And that’s precisely what you should do if you’re entitled to it.
