Christmas can be quite a stressful time for us; buying gifts for everyone and getting everything delivered in time (and in one piece!). Not only that, but trying to find something for everyone, for all ages and with a range of tastes (and attention spans!), can be a whole new challenge.
When it comes to Christmas shopping, we therefore always appreciate it when we can find everything under one roof!
Very is home to tons of household favourites, from Barbie and Hot Wheels, to LEGO, Fisher-Price and V-Tech. For families, they are the perfect place to get everything you need when it comes to your Christmas shopping.
This month, we’ve been invited to shop with Very to see what they could offer when it came to our Christmas needs!
Toys
At the age of 7, our son has an eclectic taste in toys. Last year, he got into collecting Hot Wheels cars and almost 12 months later we have dozens of cars and pieces of track. The Hot Wheels Action Spiral Speed Crash Playset (£45) is the perfect addition to his collection. Sitting almost 30 inches high, and with its built-in motorised booster, this set is sure to bring some thrills on Christmas morning.
Keeping within the mechanical theme, the LEGO Technic App Controlled RC Vehicle (£95.99) is perfect if you’re looking for something to keep them busy for a few hours! Not only do you get the fun of building, but when you’re done you get to control it using your very own remote control. If that’s not enough, drive into a wall to reveal the second vehicle. No wall? No problem! Kids can turn the remote control flipping car over by hand to switch vehicles.
Another one of T’s favourite things to do is play Pokémon. From swapping trainer cards to playing with plushies and figures, Pokémon is one of his favourite pastimes. This means the Pokémon PKW Battle Figure Multi-pack (£19.99), which features fan favourites such as Pikachu, Charmander, Squirtle and Bulbasaur, is a great addition to any Pokémon lover’s collection. For something a bit more special, or for those who prefer to play the trading card game, the Pokémon Go Elite Trainer Box (£52.99) is an absolute must-have. Included in the box is everything from booster packs to energy cards, card sleeves to a competition-legal coin-flip die, counter-dice and a collectors box. It’s not called ‘Elite’ for nothing.
While we were shopping for friends and family, the LEGO Orchid Plant & Flowers Collection (£39.99) appeared to have slipped into our basket. Shopping with Very makes it very easy to not only shop for friends and family, but for yourself too. When it comes to LEGO, the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree. After we’d wrapped all the gifts, sitting down together one evening to build some LEGO was a real treat.
Inspired by a real orchid, the model has five leaves at the base and two wandering air roots to create an authentic display. To personalise, simply rotate the model’s stems, blooms, roots and leaves to achieve the perfect look for your home or workspace.
Games and puzzles
If you’ve followed us for a while, you’ll know that we’re big on family games. But, despite this, there’s always room for more! Hasbro Bop It (£14.99) was a firm favourite when I was a child, therefore when we saw it on Very we had to add it to our collection. This classic passing game of ‘Bop It, Twist It, Pull It’ offers both single and multiplayer games, and with three different volume settings it’s perfect for both family and party play!
Another classic found on Very was Battleship (£15.99), which is quite the opposite to Bop It! This two player game is great for practising strategy and competition, and is a much more relaxing game. Great for Boxing Day or a random Sunday afternoon.
While we were looking at games, we decided to have a look at some new games (for us, anyway!). With this, we quickly found Scribbish (£17.99) a fun scribbling game of ‘how did THIS become THAT?’
where hilarity is key. To play, choose a caption and draw a picture. Players then take it in turns adding drawings or captions to the pictures. At the end, guess which picture was yours when you started, and decide which one is funniest. Vote for your favourite and collect the most tokens to win!
Art and educational
Christmas doesn’t have to be all about playful toys and games if you don’t want it to be. Very has lots of educational toys or activities for those who are more creative. Some of T’s friends are incredibly creative, which is why the LEGO Dots Creative Designer Box (£27.99) is perfect. One of T’s favourite activities is building LEGO with his best friend, however there’s often cases of creative differences! With this set, help grow their crafting and design skills whilst also encouraging their creativity!
For those more experienced in LEGO Dots, LEGO Lots of Dots Tiles Beads Craft Set (£17.99) is a brilliant expansion to the world of LEGO Dots. It can also work as an extension to pre-existing LEGO models and sets!
For a different creative style, the Crayola Light-Up Tracing Pad Assortment (£11.99) allows kids to trace and colour detailed scenes of their choice. With hundreds of images to download from Crayola, there’ll be plenty to keep them busy!
Alternatively, for any budding scientists, the Science4You Coding Lab (£11.99) teaches coding and secret messaging skills, and the Science4You Super Rocket Launcher (£14.99) is perfect if you need something to get you out of the house for a few hours!
Finally, as a special treat for our niblings this year, the Minecraft Build A Level Light (£22.99) is a wonderful addition to any kid’s bedroom. With over 140 stickers, create your own Minecraft light-up scenes as the ultimate nightlight or desk lamp!
Now that you’ve seen what we’ve been able to score from under one roof thanks to Very, what will you be searching for next?
