The Person Behind the Parent {Lisa: Mummascribbles}
Another month, another blogger to chat to as part of my ‘Person Behind the Parent’ feature!
Last month, we spoke to Karen from Mini Travellers who writes a wonderful family travel blog. This month, we’re chatting to Lisa from Mummascribbles!
Please introduce yourself…
Hello! I am Lisa, other half to Dean and Mumma to Zachary (4) and Oscar (4 months).

I’ll start with some easy ones…
What’s your favourite food?
Toad in the hole. And it really upsets me that Dean doesn’t really like it. I remember making one and him being all like, yeah, it’s ok. Which means, don’t bother doing this meal again! I mean seriously, what’s not to like about a giant yorkshire and sausages?! I’d divorce him now, seriously.

What’s your favourite film?
Oh god…what a question – I have so many! Ok, if I have to pick one it has to be The Usual Suspects. That scene…where the detective realises…it’s cracking (like the mug he dropped!).
What’s your favourite book?
Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult. I didn’t know who the heck I had sympathy with and it just had me turning the pages very quickly. Most of her books do that – she is my favourite author.

Do you have any hobbies?
Errrm blogging! Although I class that a bit more like work now so it’s not quite a hobby anymore! I guess reading. I don’t have much time to do it at the moment but if I had a spare couple of hours, reading a book would be what I would choose to do.

Tell us one guilty pleasure.
Little Mix!
Little Mix!
Tell us something quirky about yourself.
I have two tattoos. The first is a Chinese symbol on my back which means ‘younger sister’, and the second is a butterfly and stars on my foot. I am now starting to think about my third as I always said I would have one done to represent my children. Yes! Inking is so addictive.

Tell us something we don’t know about you.
I died when I was a baby! Yep, I screamed so much that I stopped breathing and had to be resuscitated! I’m pretty lucky to be here really. Wow! That’s terrifying.

One word to describe yourself would be…
Loyal

Now some harder ones…
Children aside, what has been your proudest moment?
Becoming an Auntie. This happened way before I became a Mum and I adore my Nephew – even though he is now a smelly teenager!!

Children aside, what has been your biggest achievement?
Probably my career. When I got taken under the wing of the boss of the events department in the company I worked for, never did I think that a few years later I would be leaving there for a job as an Event Manager. It took a fair few years of hard slog to get there but it was so worth it – even though I don’t want to go back!!

If you could meet one person (dead or alive) who would it be and what would you say?
My Dad. OK, so I know I have technically already met him but he died four and a half years ago and he is the only person I would wish to see if I had the chance.

If you weren’t where you are now, where would you be? What would you be doing?
I would be back in the spa at the holiday resort we went to in Turkey before Zach came along. I wouldn’t be pregnant though so I would be experiencing the Turkish Baths that I wasn’t allowed to first time round!

If you could travel to one place in the whole world where would you go?
If you Google the word Paradise and choose images – any of those! Ha! Love it.

If you could learn one thing, what would it be?
The piano. I have always wanted to be able to play but I am not a very musical person. My sister stole all the talent there!

If you could tell yourself one thing, what would it be?
Stop doubting yourself and just make it happen.

Where is your happy place?
The big country park near to our house. It is just so peaceful and so beautiful – it’s a place that makes it easy to either think or clear your thoughts!

What is your life metaphor or mantra?
Right now it would be “You cannot expect victory while planning for defeat.”
