The Person Behind the Parent {Sophie: Life As Mrs D}
Another month, another blogger to chat to as part of my ‘Person Behind the Parent’ feature.
Last month, we spoke to Naomi from Tattooed Mummy who is one of my favourites when it comes to their camping blog ‘Tent Sniffer’. If you’re new to camping like we are then The Tent Sniffer is where you should go. This month, we chat to Sophie from Life as Mrs D!
Please introduce yourself…
I’m Sophie Durrans, I blog over at Life As Mrs D. I’m married to Chris, and Mum to Isla Jean
Where can we find you?
I’ll start with some easy ones…
What’s your favourite food?
Chocolate! Or if I have to choose a proper meal then it would have to be a roast chicken
What’s your favourite film?
Oooh, I don’t know if I could pick just one…I wrote a blog post recently about my facourite 5 films…..I think I would have to choose Dogma.
What’s your favourite book?
It’s a children’s book, but I love it and could read it time and time again…. Goodnight Mister Tom.
Do you have any hobbies?
Does playing with my daughter and her toys count? I like to go down to our allotment when I have chance, and do gardening at home, I like to bake, and attempt various bits of crafting
Tell us one guilty pleasure.
It’s embarrassing, but watch the Dawson’s Creek boxset! Please don’t judge me too much!
Tell us something quirky about yourself.
Erm….I’ve got malaria! Thankfully it’s the dormant strain.
Tell us something we don’t know about you.
I hate cheese!! Get out! How can you not like cheese?
One word to describe yourself would be…
Contradictory
Now some harder ones…
Children aside, what has been your proudest moment?
Graduating from university
Children aside, what has been your biggest achievement?
Raising enough money to travel to Malaw and Zambia 3 years running to do project work on litle school (and then travel a bit!)
If you could meet one person (dead or alive) who would it be and what would you say?
Dave Grohl – marry me!?
If you weren’t where you are now, where would you be? What would you be doing?
I would be living further north than here (Midlands at least!!) and I have no idea what else I would be doing….still working in mental health?
If you could be one person for the day who would it be?
A very rich person…and then I could transfer a lot of money in to the bank account of Sophie Durrans! Ha! You’re not the first person to have said that.
If you could travel to one place in the whole world where would you go?
New York, there is still so much more of it I would love to see
If you could learn one thing, what would it be?
Can you learn how to have a photographic memory? If not, then it would be to learn a language completely fluently
If you could tell yourself one thing, what would it be?
Never drink vodka….just don’t do it, ever.
Where is your happy place?
Jura, it’s a little island in Scotland (makes great whisky).
What is your life metaphor or mantra?
It’s one a friend of mine taught me…..Put it in the f*ck it bucket, and move on!
