This is year has to be one of our busiest yet. I thought having a new born and then a young baby kept me busy enough, but a toddler is a whole different experience entirely. 2017 has absolutely flown by, and to compare 2017 to 2016 I can’t believe how we’ve managed to fit it all in!
Ignoring the negatives for just one second, I’d like to recap over our year by joining in with Lauren over at Scrapbook Blog as part of their ‘Share Your Year’ linky.
January – March
January kicked off with the toddler starting to really find his words. With each new word found and new sentences formed I fell into deep conversation about animals and sounds. Nowadays I’m told I’m silly on a daily basis and how every vehicle “goes to help people”. With new words also came new frustrations when T couldn’t find his words. Not excluding the dog, we also went on lots of new walks locally and with the National Trust.
I also started a Bullet Journal for the first time ever (and wish I’d started it sooner). Stationery has always been a big love of mine, so having a BuJo really pushed that love into 5th gear!
April – June
T’s birthday was our primary focus in April – mainly because we were in disbelief that a whole year had flown by and our little baby was no longer a little baby! Speaking of Birthdays, I also turned 30 and spent my birthday in the Lake District, a surprise organised by my wonderful wife. I literally had no idea and even travelled a few hours complete clueless!
July – September
July to September was most definitely our busiest period, with a muddy but amazing stay at our first ever Camp Bestival and a first time stay Bluestone, Wales! We also visited Into The Tree’s for the first time and travelled a bit north to visit the Shakespeare Tour. But it didn’t stop there when it came to new adventures – T experienced his first ever Circus and Sharon and I became MicroScooter Ambassadors!
August is also one of our favourite months, with Pride festivities in full swing. I also interviewed T at Two – I can’t wait to see what he answers next year.
October – December
After a busy few months, it’s only right that we calmed down a bit and spent a bit of time at home or a bit closer to home. We carved pumpkins for the first time ever, and I shared a few of my favourite places in Brighton.
We also celebrated Halloween by going to a few parties – T even dressed up for the occasion. We also found out about Camp Bestival’s theme for next year and became official bloggers for them – we’re so so excited and can’t wait to attend next year!
November saw us visit lots of firework displays, drink a heck of a lot of hot chocolate, and start our preparations for Christmas! We did something a bit different this year and did a book advent instead of a traditional door calendar. I also started back at the gym after avoiding it for two years.
Looking back, 2017 has been one of the better (and busier) years. In addition to the above, we’ve seen a lot more of our friends and family, and I’ve really found my feet when it comes to the blog. I’ve found a new love in journalling and we’ve settled into a great routine at home alongside work and nursery. I no longer feel like I’m treading water (as much).
T is coming along leaps and bounds with his words and can now hold a conversation with anyone. We’re really enjoying watching him grow into the incredible person he’s becoming – I can’t wait to see how 2018 unfolds.
