We made it, folks! πŸŽ‰ It's the last day of term We made it, folks! πŸŽ‰

It's the last day of term and we're finally hitting Easter. For us, Easter is the warm up, the pre-show, the practice run for Summer. We get to have a little bit more fun because it's two weeks instead of one and T gets to really let his hair down.

We have a couple of little things planned, and I'm so excited, even if the weather is going to be shockingly bad for April (have I mentioned the weather enough yet?). We've got a trip to London planned and no doubt a couple of days where the boy will no doubt stay in his pyjamas all day. It's going to be nice. I've even got some time off work πŸ™Œ

Not only that, but we're going to have an 8 year-old in less than a week. 8. An actual 8 year old. I'm going to need some time to process that a little bit, as 8 is scarily close to 10. 7 was closer to 5, but 8? 8 is basically 18. Right?
πŸ“ Queer Britian, London. February may official πŸ“ Queer Britian, London.

February may officially be LGBT History Month, but for our community every month is LGBT History Month, and now more than ever we need allies to learn about our history so that we have some chance of not going backwards!

Located in Granary Square, London - just a few minutes walk from London's St. Pancras - @queerbritain is the first dedicated #LGBTQ History Museum in the UK. The purpose is to celebrate and showcase British #LGBTQIA History and Culture, whilst also acting as a vital time capsule for events past and present.

Whilst small in geography, don't be fooled, it certainly packs a punch and despite this being my second time visiting I still managed to leave quite taken back. I don't know whether it was because I had the boy with me or because new exhibits had been added and they took me by surprise, but I was yet again left in awe of how far we have come as a community.

Queer Britian is free to visit, however please check the website for their opening hours.
Come with me to the B Creator Travel Creator Show! Come with me to the B Creator Travel Creator Show! ✈️

Today I popped to London to attend the first ever @bcreatoruk Travel Creator Show; a show dedicated to those who currently create travel-themed content. Whilst we're very new to this part of the creator industry, we're slowly finding our feet and hope to add travel to our portfolio. Travel has always been a love of mine, but as a creator I've always felt like an imposter due to not only limited funds to travel regularly (which is quite a big factor, obvs) but also time to travel and create said content due to both Sharon and I working full-time. Not to mention someone being in school full-time!

But, being an LGBT content creator, I've very quickly realised that there's still a huge gap in the market when it comes to LGBTQ-centred travel - even more so if you're with child as an additional factor. This is due to the varying laws in each country which often limits the places you can travel safely (@ilgaeurope is a great resource for LGBTQIA travellers btw). Therefore I want to help change that, and try and highlight some of the more LGBT-inclusive (not just "friendly") countries and places to visit local to us. A lot of LGBT Travel is centred around couples or single travellers too, so I want to mix it up a little!

Today was a good place to start, and despite only being able to stay until lunchtime I left feeling so energised and motivated. I got to meet the lovely folks at @tuiuk and @marellacruises, and I got to listen to a talk by the amazing @handluggageonly where I was proper fan-girling. It was an excellent day and I look forward to @bcreatoruk's next one (no pressure, guys!).

Gosh, what I would give to be here right now. β˜€οΈ

I don't know about you, but it feels like we're experiencing the LONGEST winter ever. UK clocks went forward today, which is usually my indicator that Spring and then Summer is coming, but you wouldn't know it! I'm still very much in my puffa coats and wellies, and I don't think my feet have seen anything other than a thermal sock in MONTHS. πŸ₯Ά

I am so desperate to travel and feel some sun, I even started looking at short breaks recently. Easter is probably too late, but how about Half Term?! Am I being optimistic?

Are you up to anything soon? Make me jealous! Please! πŸ™
A Mothers' Weekend! πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘¦ This weeke A Mothers' Weekend! πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘¦

This weekend was our yearly Mothers' Day weekend where we celebrate Sharon on the Saturday and me on the Sunday. Being a two mum family, we wing it every year as there really isn't anything specific for families like ours and, for us, this setup is perfect. We both get our own days and we celebrate it in our own special way.

Mama's Day was quite a casual affair as we have commitments most Saturday mornings, however that didn't stop me bringing home some nice cakes and fancy bread from the bakery. After tea and cake, Sharon was then presented with T's gift and card which was so so sweet. πŸ₯Ή

For Mother's Day, I was treated to coffee in bed, presents and brunch.πŸ‘Œ We then made our way out for the day to Ardingly Reservoir for a dog walk. It was our first time visiting and despite the thick mud, we had a lovely time getting some fresh air and enjoying some dry weather for a change.

It's been such a lovely weekend, especially as this is the first year where we've let T take the lead (without any hints) when it came to gifts, and they were perfect. As T gets older, we're really looking forward to how his little gifts change and evolve with his personality. We're already starting to see it shine through in his card writing; now that his handwriting is legible (!), so who knows what it'll be like once he can shop. I imagine it'll be something fart-related.
Drag Queens don't hurt children. Underfunded schoo Drag Queens don't hurt children. Underfunded schools hurt children.
Drag Queens don't hurt children. Voting to cancel free school meals hurts children.
Drag Queens don't hurt children. Reducing children's access to Mental Health services hurts children.
Drag Queens don't hurt children. Our government are the ones hurting children.

I really am at a loss how we have come to a point in our lives where we're now debating whether attending a Drag Queen Story Hour in a library is appropriate for your child, and where parts of the US have banned public drag performances. I know this is just a huge distraction so people don't actually look at the real issues that are affecting our children (that the current government is yet to really do anything about). Things like climate change, sewage waste in our seas and rivers, freezing cold houses, overworked and underpaid teachers, the cost of food, and in the US; gun control. Despite it being a decoy tactic, it doesn't stop it being very real.

I was between the ages of 1-15 when Section 28 was in existence (1988 to 2003 (!!!)), therefore I vividly remember the conversations (and the slurs) in school playgrounds, my closeted math teacher and the books where two mums were never seen. To be honest, the latter still happens now. But, I don't ever remember protests at Pantos. Drag has always existed, and enjoyed, and whilst I didn't have the opportunity to ever go to a Drag brunch when I was young, like kids do today, I did get to see many Drag shows, at various Prides, with my mums. It was a joy.

Over the past 12 years, the government has slowly been scaremongering us into believing that the rich diversity we once celebrated needs to be eradicated. Just the other month our PM mentioned that he wants to review the EQUALITY ACT and some of the discourse currently targeted at Migrants and Refugees should, quite franky, be seen as a Hate Crime. It's just despicable and, for me, it very much feels like we're going backwards. Based on the rhetoric about Trans folk alone it feels like another Section 28 is coming and if I'm being completely honest; I'm anxious about who or what is next. Pride?
