A Mothers' Weekend! ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ This weeke A Mothers' Weekend! ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ

This weekend was our yearly Mothers' Day weekend where we celebrate Sharon on the Saturday and me on the Sunday. Being a two mum family, we wing it every year as there really isn't anything specific for families like ours and, for us, this setup is perfect. We both get our own days and we celebrate it in our own special way.

Mama's Day was quite a casual affair as we have commitments most Saturday mornings, however that didn't stop me bringing home some nice cakes and fancy bread from the bakery. After tea and cake, Sharon was then presented with T's gift and card which was so so sweet. ๐Ÿฅน

For Mother's Day, I was treated to coffee in bed, presents and brunch.๐Ÿ‘Œ We then made our way out for the day to Ardingly Reservoir for a dog walk. It was our first time visiting and despite the thick mud, we had a lovely time getting some fresh air and enjoying some dry weather for a change.

It's been such a lovely weekend, especially as this is the first year where we've let T take the lead (without any hints) when it came to gifts, and they were perfect. As T gets older, we're really looking forward to how his little gifts change and evolve with his personality. We're already starting to see it shine through in his card writing; now that his handwriting is legible (!), so who knows what it'll be like once he can shop. I imagine it'll be something fart-related.
[AD - Gift] What's better than getting an absolute [AD - Gift] What's better than getting an absolutely gorgeous bunch of flowers from @coopuk to celebrate Mother's Day?

Getting TWO bunches of flowers from @coopukpress because they recognise that some families have two mums and celebrate Mother's Day TWICE. โœŒ๏ธ

I know it's direct and to the point, but I cannot stress how amazing it is to feel seen and included when it comes to public holidays like Mother's Day. In fact, it's quite common for non-birthing parents to be excluded, or not given their own opportunity to be celebrated. Therefore it's incredibly heartwarming when big names like co-op reach out in such a meaningful way to make everyone feel equally welcome. So, thank you @coopuk. Thanks a... Bunch ๐Ÿ˜

I'm really looking forward to celebrating Mothers' Day this weekend, and these flowers have really got the weekend off to a bright start.

Drag Queens don't hurt children. Underfunded schoo Drag Queens don't hurt children. Underfunded schools hurt children.
Drag Queens don't hurt children. Voting to cancel free school meals hurts children.
Drag Queens don't hurt children. Reducing children's access to Mental Health services hurts children.
Drag Queens don't hurt children. Our government are the ones hurting children.

I really am at a loss how we have come to a point in our lives where we're now debating whether attending a Drag Queen Story Hour in a library is appropriate for your child, and where parts of the US have banned public drag performances. I know this is just a huge distraction so people don't actually look at the real issues that are affecting our children (that the current government is yet to really do anything about). Things like climate change, sewage waste in our seas and rivers, freezing cold houses, overworked and underpaid teachers, the cost of food, and in the US; gun control. Despite it being a decoy tactic, it doesn't stop it being very real.

I was between the ages of 1-15 when Section 28 was in existence (1988 to 2003 (!!!)), therefore I vividly remember the conversations (and the slurs) in school playgrounds, my closeted math teacher and the books where two mums were never seen. To be honest, the latter still happens now. But, I don't ever remember protests at Pantos. Drag has always existed, and enjoyed, and whilst I didn't have the opportunity to ever go to a Drag brunch when I was young, like kids do today, I did get to see many Drag shows, at various Prides, with my mums. It was a joy.

Over the past 12 years, the government has slowly been scaremongering us into believing that the rich diversity we once celebrated needs to be eradicated. Just the other month our PM mentioned that he wants to review the EQUALITY ACT and some of the discourse currently targeted at Migrants and Refugees should, quite franky, be seen as a Hate Crime. It's just despicable and, for me, it very much feels like we're going backwards. Based on the rhetoric about Trans folk alone it feels like another Section 28 is coming and if I'm being completely honest; I'm anxious about who or what is next. Pride?
One Second Every Day: February. This one was alwa One Second Every Day: February.

This one was always going to be the hardest one to complete. See, January often gives me this false sense of security that I have my sh*t in order; ready for the new year, so I go and arrange to do all these lovely things. Then more sh*t happens and balls get dropped. BUT! I kept at it and, despite hectic calendars and the RUBBISH weather we've been having, I've managed to take so much away from the month.

There were a few more photos in this month's video than I would have liked, but then that just summarises what this month has been like. Not always going to plan, but doing our best nonetheless!!

I loved watching your #1SEMe last month, so please continue to tag us in yours. They're such a joy to watch.

๐Ÿ“Twist Museum, London. Last week, the boy and ๐Ÿ“Twist Museum, London.

Last week, the boy and I took a trip to London to check out @twist_museum - an immersive world of optical illusions! Located on Oxford Street it's a wonderful mix of both Art and Science and truly puts your eyes (and balance!) to the test.

Whilst it's not the cheapest of #London excursions, it's a lot of fun (plus educational!) and packed full with interactive features, puzzles and experiments, and walkthrough exhibits. There isn't a minute where you can't touch or interact with something!

We easily spent a morning here exploring everything (more than once!) And thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and being situated so centrally meant we could pop on the tube and go elsewhere or walk round the corner to Carnaby Street!

If you're in the area, I would absolutely check it out (booking is recommended!).
