Celebrating (More Than One!) Mothers’ Day With Moonpig [Ad]

Mother’s / Mothers’ Day is a huge affair in this family. Not only has T got two mums to contend with, but I myself have two mums that I need to shop for. We also have Sharon’s mum as well!

I guess it’s no different to splitting the cost over Father’s and Mother’s Day, but when you’re hit with it in one sitting it can be quite costly. This isn’t even taking into consideration one mum with a plant addiction and another mum that likes her tech!

This is where Moonpig comes in very handy. Moonpig are no longer just your doorstep card company, they now offer flowers and gifts for any occasion! We were recently invited to do some shopping at Moonpig for Mothers’ Day to find out whether it not only catered for a variety of people, but that it was value for money!

Here’s how we got on…

Ever since I caught a whiff of that catchy theme tune, Moonpig have been making cards for every occasion. They were probably one of the first companies I knew to offer you the ability to upload photos and personalise your card for that extra touch.

Fast forward several years and you can now buy gift sets and experience days, flowers and plants, sweets and chocolates, and more balloons than Carl Fredricksen needs.

Thinking outside the box…

For Mothers’ Day this year, we let T pick a few things for us. We also chose a few treats for each other as mums, and some gifts for our own mums – including cards (don’t forget Mother’s Day cards!). One of the great things about Moonpig is that they cater for all types of people. As someone who isn’t particularly ‘feminine’ other Mother’s Day adverts are lost on me! But with Moonpig, you have all sorts!

This year, T chose a Gardeners Gift Set for me – seeing as I spent a whole weekend gardening as soon as the sun showed its face. It was the perfect gift as it came in a gorgeous hamper, which means I’m able to reuse it elsewhere around the house.

The set features the following items:

  • 300ml basil and lemon thyme hand wash
  • 300ml almond and orange blossom hand lotion
  • 85g exfoliating soap
  • 15ml beeswax lip balm
  • Nail brush and gardeners gloves

For Sharon, I suggested we get her a Beerhawk Craft Beer Discovery Set, which is a neat little gift as it also comes with a glass, tasting book and bottle opener, alongside five carefully selected beers.

If you’re also into beer tasting, the set comes with the following beers:

  • Harviestoun Schiehallion Lager (330ml bottle)
  • Camden Pale (330ml bottle)
  • Goose Island IPA (330ml bottle)
  • Saltaire Velocity Session IPA (330ml bottle)
  • Leffe Blond Abbey Beer (330ml bottle)

Catering for all

For my mums, we decided to treat them both and combine their gift so they could enjoy it together, seeing as they haven’t been able to go out much as a couple.

With this, we went with the Afternoon Treat Gift Box by Cartwright & Butler as it contained both coffee and tea, as well as a gorgeous selection of biscuits and sweet treats.

This box includes the following items by Cartwright & Butler:

  • Café York blend coffee in carton 50g
  • Lemon and tangerine slice mix sweets in carton
  • Butter shortbread rounds carton
  • English breakfast tea in carton (10× 3g)
  • Butter fudge in carton
  • Chocolate wafer crispies

This is one of a few hampers by Cartwright & Butler, we even treated ourselves to one!

We decided to go for the ‘To The Happy Couple’ Gift Box by Cartwright & Butler, as we liked the added extras such as the jar of chocolate almonds and the tin of fudge. Like the Afternoon Treat set, this also comes with tea and coffee, as well as some shortbread.

For Sharon’s mum, we know that she loves a decent pampering set so we decided on the Sanctuary Spa Uplifting Moments Gift Set. As well as a gorgeous selection of smellies, the set comes in a generous sized toiletry bag (which I know my mother-in-law will appreciate!).

The set includes a wash, a scrub, a butter and a lotion.

For us, to have on our own (once T is in bed!), we went with a Gin House Gift Set. After realising what the fuss was all about, when it came to gin, this year, we decided to branch out and try a few new different ones. I don’t know about you, but when it comes to drinking, we tend to stick to what we like (hence the beer for Sharon!). But when we realised how tasty gin can be we decided to start experimenting and have a few cocktail nights of an evening.

The set comes with a selection of gins as well as a variety of different Fentimans tonics.

Treat yourself!

As a final treat, to maybe share with T, we decided to treat ourselves to a selection of chocolates! Living in Brighton, we actually have a Green & Blacks and a Montezuma’s shop. So, when we saw these luxury sets available to buy at Moonpig, there was no way we were going to miss this opportunity.

This massive Green & Black’s Connoisseur Collection comes with a whopping 12 bars of chocolate of varying sizes, including the following:

  • Dark 70% (90g bar)
  • Milk (90g bar)
  • Dark 70% (35g bar)
  • Milk with butterscotch (90g bar)
  • Dark hazelnut (15g bar)
  • White chocolate (35g bar)
  • Milk with sea salt (90g bar)
  • Dark with hazelnut and currant (15g bar)
  • Milk (35g bar)
  • Dark 85% (15g bar)
  • Milk with almond (15g bar)
  • Dark with ginger (15g bar)

For those that prefer an instant chocolate hit, then the Montezuma’s Grand Chocolate Truffle set is perfect for chocoholics. With a choice of dark, milk and white chocolate truffles (with hints of either salted caramel, raspberry or hazelnut praline) there’ll certainly be something that takes your fancy!

What I love about Moonpig is that everything is under one roof. If you want to plan ahead you can order everything in one go (although I wouldn’t recommend this with flowers!). If you’re like me, and often forget events until the last minute, you can set reminders to make sure you don’t forget.

Looking through the different menus, Moonpig is also inclusive to different family setups. One example is their ‘Like a Mum’ section for Mother’s Day. PLUS! They have their very own LGBTQ+ section where you have a wonderful selection of cards. From sentimental ones to rude and funny! I love the fact that during their Mother’s Day promotions, Moonpig made a separate LGBTQ+ section just to showcase LGBTQ+ mums.

Disclosure: We were sent the mentioned items in exchange for a review and promotion on our social channels. All thoughts, opinions and imagery are our own.
