This week seems to have flown by, with the main theme being either Pip & Posy or the Happy Families series. T has now got very good at identifying which book is which at the moment just by feeling them – which is how we’ve managed to get so many of the same the same books!
I’m going to be sad when the book advent finally finishes as it’s been such a nice way to end the day. Although we’ll always have our bedtime story, it’s been lovely watching him get excited about a brand new book every day.
Here’s what our week looked like this week:
Friday 8th December
Pip & Posy: The New Friend by Axel Scheffler
This story talks about the emotions you feel when a new friend comes along and starts playing with your best friend, especially one that seems to be a lot more fun.
Saturday 9th December
Pip & Posy: The Super Scooter
This is about Pip’s new scooter and how Posy needs to practise hard before trying to be as good as Pip!
Sunday 10th December
Hold Tight! by John Prater
This is a beautiful story about the fun you can have with a cardboard box and a parent who’s trying to clean up around you.
Monday 11th December
Mrs Vole the Vet by Ahlberg & Chichester Clarke
Mrs Vole has one son, two daughters, three cats, and four dogs. But the one thing that Mrs Vole’s children thinks their mum needs is a husband!
Tuesday 12th December
Little Rex and the Big Roar by Ruth Symes & Sean Julian
Little Rex has the loudest Roar, and whilst everyone thinks he’s too loud, it’s his roar that saves the day.
Wednesday 13th December
Pip & Posy: The Little Puddle by Axel Scheffler
Quite apt for us at the moment, this story is about the little accidents you can have whist having too much fun.
Thursday 14th December
Miss Jump the Jockey by Ahlberg & Amstutz
This is a brilliant a story about a little jockey who wants to race just like her mum, but everyone thinks she’s too small and couldn’t possibly compete in a race!
So that’s week two! Certainly different from last week, but just as fun – I think we may have even completed a set of two this week.
Have you done a book advent? Where do you source your books from? Have you read any of these?
