Taking into consideration the current climate, it’s now worth getting to know a few online plant shops for your planting needs. On the same note, your local independent plant shop will no doubt need your help.
You probably know by now that I love houseplants. For years we had a few plants dotted around the house, but then lockdown hit. Now, we have several plants in every room of the house! I’ve written before about plant care and our tips if you’re thinking about investing in plants, but what about where to buy?
Garden centres are a great place to start, however they’re not always the cheapest option. Even without pots, you can sometimes be looking at a fiver for a relatively ‘cheap’ plant. Examples of this are Spider Plants. They’re incredibly easy to propagate, so charging anything over a few quid feels criminal!
Plants are great!
They have wonderful health benefits and they’re very aesthetically pleasing, but not only can choosing a houseplant be one of the biggest decisions to make (do you have enough light or room in your home? If you have pets, are the plants you’re choosing safe?) getting them home can also be troublesome.
This is where online shopping is incredibly handy! You can order without having to leave your sofa whilst being safe in the knowledge that the plants will be with you within a few days and in tact.
With this in mind, here are a few online plant shops where you can purchase indoor plants online. Some of them also stock outdoor plants if you’re feeling adventurous!
Online shops in the UK
Patch Plants
Patch Plants were probably the first shops we purchased a plant from online. Their packaging is excellent and they have a wonderful selection available. They even name all their plants, which has remained a thing in our home.
How much is postage? ‘Chosen Day’ delivery is free for orders over £50, or £5 for orders under £50. Their chosen time slot delivery is £8. Please bear in mind, however, they do have a minimum order value of £25.
Are there any subscription or member offers? Not really, but they do have an extensive database of plant knowledge and advice to help you along the way.
Can you buy accessories? Yes. They have a nice variety of pots and planters. Every pot pictured can be purchased also.

The Little Botanical
We’ve had a few friends purchase plants from The Little Botanical and they’ve always been impressed with the quality of the plants. I particularly like their selection of cacti, as well as their living wall troughs!
How much is postage? Free delivery on orders over £65 (postcode dependent).
Are there any subscription or member offers? No.
Can you buy accessories? Yes, although not a huge selection. We’ve recently purchased one of their belly baskets and it’s really good quality.

House of Kojo
House of Kojo specialise in more rare plants. We’ve purchased from them a few times and haven’t been disappointed yet. Their packaging is a little under our expectations – in comparison to places like Patch Plants – but nothing has ever arrived damaged.
How much is postage? Plant delivery is £6.99 to UK (tracked delivery via DPD). Delivery is also offered to France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany and Luxembourg, which is £13.99 (2-3 days delivery via DPD). Orders to the UK placed over £50 qualify for free delivery.
Are there any subscription or member offers? Yes. They have a loyalty rewards scheme that offers money off plants and/or delivery.
Can you buy accessories? Yes. Primarily a large selection of pots and hangers, as well as a few tools.

Root Houseplants
Probably not as extensive as other online plant shops. Every time I’ve visited they’re had quite a few out of stock, however they’re reasonably priced!
How much is postage? Delivery is £5.99, with free delivery on orders over £50. They pack and ship orders Monday to Thursday and offer next day delivery if you place an order before 11:00am on these days.
Are there any subscription or member offers? Yes. Their Plant Mail Club offers three subscription options.
Can you buy accessories? Again, not as extensive, however a nice selection of reasonably priced pots.

Leaf Envy
Leaf Envy are another new one for us, and probably one of the smaller companies we’ve found. That being said, they offer plant installations for brands and businesses, which is pretty cool! They also plant a tree with every order!
How much is postage? Free delivery on all orders over £50. A shipping charge of £5 will apply to all orders below £50. Free delivery applies to gift card owners and subscription service users.
Are there any subscription or member offers? Yes. They offer a really detailed subscription service in comparison to others. You can choose the frequency and duration, how you’d like to pay and whether you’d like a pot included. Delivery is also complimentary with subscriptions.
There’s also the option to refer a friend to receive money off.
Can you buy accessories? Yes. They have a nice selection of plants, baskets and hangers in varying sizes.

Beards & Daisies
A new one for us, but a couple of people we know have purchased plants from these guys. I particularly like how Beards & Daisies have designed their website and their imagery. They boast that they hold the largest collection of plants in the UK!
How much is postage? Free delivery on orders over £50.
Are there any subscription or member offers? Yes. They have a variety of subscriptions available, from a ‘Pet Friendly’ subscription to a year’s worth of plants.
Can you buy accessories? Yes! They probably sell the most extensive collection of accessories I’ve seen to date. From watering cans and tarp, to books, soils and germination plates! They have also a lovely collection of plants and hangers.

Bloombox Club
Bloombox Club were probably one of our first plant follows, and despite heaps of you recommending them we have yet to make a purchase. They probably have one of the most extensive websites and have several variety of plants that I’ve never seen before.
How much is postage? If you’re placing a one-off order on plants, pots and accessories in our shop, you will be charged a flat rate charge of £6.95 for delivery across the UK.
Are there any subscription or member offers? This one of the more generous plant subscriptions I’ve seen. In each monthly subscription, you get care notes, a pot or basket, free gifts and delivery, and if you pay annually you get £50 to spend on plants!
Can you buy accessories? Yes. They have lots of plants and accessories, as well as things to care for your plant, however they’re not the cheapest!

Plnts.com
Plnts.com seem a bit ‘fancier’ when it comes to curating their website, however I’ve found a few more ‘different’ looking plants via them recently. They also have an extensive library of tips relating to care and plant-related DIY!
How much is postage? Shipping is around £9 and free for orders over £75, which is higher than a lot of other shops. That being said, they do ship across Europe!
Are there any subscription or member offers? Not really, but they do have an affiliate scheme.
Can you buy accessories? Yes. A wide range of pots and care accessories.

Don’t forget!
Places like Etsy and eBay are also good ways to access local and/or independent businesses, not to mention Facebook selling pages.
I’m also part of a small number of lovely local Facebook groups where members often trade or sell their own plants!
If you have any online plant shop recommendations, let us know!
