An Afternoon With Bex Photo

Last month, our talented friend Bex (AKA Bex Photo) came round our house for the afternoon to take some family photos. It was something that we’ve been trying to arrange for over two years but, y’know, COVID. As strange as it sounds, when Bex asked whether she could do a family photoshoot we jumped at the chance.

For most families, you don’t often get to see the raw moments of family life, and as someone who is usually behind the lens I wanted to have something that captured us all for once.

Unless you have cameras set up all around your house, little moments of joy remain in your head. Moments like tickle fights and games of football in the park. Not only that, but anyone with children in their home will know how fast they grow up. Therefore, having something that captures those everyday moments is a gift in itself.

We’ve probably known Bex for a few years, however have only ever met in person a few times. First meeting them at a local festival and then again at Brighton Pride one year. We’ve obviously kept in touch thanks to Instagram, but considering we’ve not hung out that much it was such a joy when we just clicked from the moment they walked in.

The rainbow leggings they had on obviously helped, but there was just something that sparked. Usually, Sharon and I are embarrassingly awkward for hours when we meet people again. But that feeling subsided very quickly. Plus, T was attached almost immediately and in no time he was showing Bex his room and his favourite toys and books.

A little bit about Bex Photo…

Located in Sussex, Bex is a wife and mother of twins the same age as T. She loves colour – which is evident in her photos – and enjoys keeping busy. Bex has “way too many hobbies” and will always be found with a camera in her hands.

I love recording the little details you won’t want to forget – tiny toes, wisps of hair, the cuddles, the smiles… The things that make your heart skip!

Alongside her own busy family life, Bex has made a business out of capturing those precious family moments for over four years. If that wasn’t enough, Bex has also more recently moved into the world of showcasing local businesses and helping them get their own portfolio going.

Our photos…

The day itself was so much fun. We had a few activities arranged for the day, such as building LEGO and going to the park, but everything else just came naturally depending on what we were doing. We had such a lovely time that Bex even stayed for dinner where we just continued chatting for hours.

It really feels like we’ve known Bex for years and I will cherish these photos forever. They’ve truly captured who we are as a family.

If you like what Bex Photo has created, please do give them a follow @Bex.Photo on Instagram, or even hire them for all your photographic needs! If you’re a business, they also have a wonderful page detailing all their brand work too! 🙂
