The last time we visited Spring Barn Farm was back in May when T had just turned 1 year, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. So when the folks from Spring Barn Farm invited us back for another visit to see their new features and to show us what they were up to for Easter we couldn’t say no.
Based on the outskirts of Lewes near the village of Kingston, Spring Barn Farm is a delightful working farm with all your typical farm animals (and then some). With pigs, sheep, and goats, but also donkeys, alpacas, and ponies! When visiting, I’d certainly get there early or later lunch, or face issues with parking! We typically arrived at lunch and had a nightmare finding a space (even with three overflow car parks) as other visitors clearly didn’t know how to park (or drive) on grass.
The farm
As well as the farm animals, there’s also a lovely variety of smaller animals within their barn area. This area is where you can also pet the smaller animals; from rabbits and Guinea pigs, to a rather dashing tortoise!
As it was Easter, there was an array of new life around the farm. From lambs and kids (the goat variety) to chicks and ducklings. I wanted to take them all home immediately but I couldn’t get them past the wife! T’s favourite animal by far was the tortoise (and it was my favourite because hearing T say ‘Turtle’ is adorable).
Around the farm are also several opportunities to feed the animals, and for £1 you can buy a bag of food for certain animals. We decided to buy two types of food for £2 but very quickly realised that by the time we arrived the animals probably had their quota of pellets for the week – but it was nice to see T confidently feeding the goats.
New features
In comparison to last time, Spring Barn Farm now have a new water park to add to their play areas. This wonderful and cleverly thought out water area is beautiful, with natural looking streams flowing throughout the area, and wooden troughs for collecting stones, sand, and water. It was a tough job trying to get T away from the area!
In addition to this, the farm has also polished their pedal kart area with new tarmac (and karts!) and I’m sure new toys have been added to their sand pits.
Old favourites
In addition to some new features, the favourites are still there, these include a large sand area, Bouncing pillows, wooden climbing frames, and a decent sized soft play for all ages, with three slides – all varying in ‘ballsy’ scale (they don’t call one a drop slide for nothing).

Eating out
Spring Barn Farm have an array of picnic areas dotted around the park from picnic benches that are covered to grassy areas that are covered. There are also the indoor areas that welcome your own food. Unlike other farms I’ve been to, there’s also several bins dotted around (daft to mention, I know, but I notice these things), meaning that the farm is actually a really tidy place to visit.
There’s also two locations on site to buy food; the smaller café based at the entrance to the soft play where you can buy small snacks and hot drink and food such as cheesy chips, and the restaurant where you can buy light lunches and breakfasts to cakes and cream teas! We decided to treat ourselves to some cake and coffee with a side of babyccino for the toddler.
Shopping
My favourite kind of farm is one with a farm shop attached, which is why Spring Barn Farm is one of my favourites farms. As well as a sweet little gift shop full of farm toys, books, and gifts, there’s also a gorgeous farm shop full of organic produce. From fruit and vegetables, cheese and bread, to canned items and frozen meals! It’s a lovely little shop with lots to see – I’ve often popped here for a last minute spend on cake!
We’d highly recommend giving Spring Barn Farm a visit this Easter – there’s so much to see and do. There’s also lots going on during the rest of the year, so why not pay them a visit and find out.
