[AD - Press Tickets] This weekend, we popped to London Olympia to check out the Travel & Holiday show by @destinations_shows. It was our second year visiting the show and it did not disappoint. ✈️

For me, I enjoy going to get some inspiration as well as chat to Tourism Boards (a girl's gotta network!) but, in all seriousness, it's also an excellent opportunity to gain some knowledge when it comes to travelling and making the most out of your budget, and this show is where you'll find it all under one roof!

What's special about this show is that you'll find something a bit different. Think; expeditions, hiking holidays or a cruise on a Catamaran (as opposed to budget holidays) and that's okay, because what you'll also find are tailored trips for couples, solo travellers and families, as well as everything in between. Last year, I remember finding out about the amount of cross-country Train trips there are globally, as well as Guided Tours to Antarctica! For me, I'd probably like to see more 🏳️‍🌈 representation, such as LGBT tour companies and agencies, but that's just me.

[AD] It was so good to be able to get out this wee

[AD] It was so good to be able to get out this week - even if it was only for an hour after work. As someone who loves being out and about; particularly by the sea, the winter is not always my friend. I probably say this every year, but it truly is feeling like the longest winter ever. I'm very much a Spring time person.

This week, for the first time this year, we went out in JUST A JUMPER and there was no biting feeling on the nose. It was marvellous. Although we're far from a fairweather family, it's an absolute pain always having to put on and take off several layers when you go out.

These gorgeous jumpers from @lazyjacksclothing certainly ticked the boxes this week and kept us warm and snug, whilst also not restricting us whilst we threw stones into the sea. The boy's fleece in particular is a firm favourite at the moment; so much so that he now takes it with him for some after-swim warmth!

Now that the weather appears to be changing, I'd love to know what team you're in...

Constantly at battle between wanting to move and explore ✈️, and needing to sit still and grow. 🏠

When folks come to #Brighton and head for the gay village they tend to stick around the seafront and St. James Street, and whilst I would highly recommend visiting those places did you know that if you walk a bit further up St. James Street you'll come to a delightful little street bursting with independent shops, pubs and cafés, as well as an established Barbers, Antique Shops and a Flea Market!

Here are a couple of my favourite shops for when you visit:

❤️ Egg & Spoon. A cute and wonderfully spacious café serving light meals and sandwiches, as well as cakes and drinks. @eggandspoon1
🧡 Ricci's Grocery. A fabulous greengrocer selling all sorts of local produce. Their sister deli (@riccis_deli) can be found in Seven Dials and was a regular haunt when I was in college (when it was called Le Gourmet!) @riccis_grocery
💛 Cafe Rust. A cozy french-style cafe with a generous menu of all-day breakfasts, salads and cakes. There's also a wonderful array of antiques to gaze at whilst you wait. @caferustkemptown
💚 Kerfuffle. A fun card and poster shop selling all sorts of funny gifts and artwork.
💙 Kemptown Bookshop. A firm favourite and somewhere I have to visit every time we pop to the area. @kemptownbookshop has an excellent selection of LGBTQ books at the top (plus, a cafe!) and a heartwarming display of children's books downstairs. Highly recommend!
💜 The (Thomas) Kemp is one of Kemptown's best pubs in the area for food (especially their roasts!) and a great atmosphere. It's followed closely by The Barley Mo just down the road. @thethomaskemp

#Kemptown, aka Brighton's gay village, runs from the bottom of St. James Street - just off of the iconic Old Steine - to the top of Eastern Road (just by the hospital, although purely coincidental!). The surrounding area is packed full with pubs and restaurants, cafés and takeaways, as well as the odd 🍆 shop. The side streets offer regency-style houses and cute little mews to explore. It is well worth a visit if you're in the area and looking for something a bit different and less "touristy".

I'm just not cut out for winter in England, folks. I'm sorry, it's just not for me. Unless I can find a country pub with a roaring fire, it's a no. I'm very much wanting to be a bear in a cave right now; waiting for the first signs of blossom.

It's not that I don't mind winter as a season. Winter in Sweden, Germany and Scotland, for example, is marvellous, but winter in England is just a bit... pants. Do you agree? My hands are always dry and cracked, despite taking shares out in hand cream, it takes me a decade to undress after going out and it's grey and dreary 90% of the time. Am I missing something?

After avoiding the 120th pot-hole this week, I'm very much looking forward to the warmth of the sun right now.

This was going to be a post about making the best

This was going to be a post about making the best out of a bad day, but I'm sort of over always putting a positive spin on things.

For years, when a plan hadn't gone the way I had imagined, I used to force myself to see something positive or "make good" of the day, which in turn just made the day worse! I would end up spending extra on fancy coffees or desperately try and find a plan B, C and D. This would absolutely exhaust me and when I eventually looked back on the day I felt neither pleased or proud; just disappointed. Disappointed that I hadn't turned it around to meet (my (often ridiculous)) expectations.

Take today, as an example. I had planned to visit Camber Castle with the boy. It was just me and him today, as Sharon had plans, so I was excited to do something a bit extra. I even packed Christmas chocolates for the walk. But, despite all my research, not knowing the area meant I was completely unaware how to properly get there (and both the Sat Nav and Google maps were no good*). Slowly watching the time tick away with every corner I turned just made things worse and after travelling in two massive circles I ended up writing our trip off and heading into Rye for the afternoon.

As usual, I then found myself looking for things to combat the funk I was in, rather than just accepting that it was a bad day. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't unpleasant - the boy and I had some excellent hot chocolates to warm up and we strolled around the cobbled streets of Rye - but what I should have done was just written the day off and headed home rather than walk around in icy drizzle. The boy still had a blast, but I was still pissed off. Turns out, I was suffering with a case of toxic positivity.

In case you need to hear this on repeat as much as I do, having a bad day isn't a failure on your part; it's just life. There are 365.25 days in the year, however no where in the manual of life does it say that every day should be a good day. I promise. A bad day is just that; a bad day, and it should be perfectly normal just to accept it as it is, and not feel the urge to turn it into a good day.

*would it have killed someone to put a sign somewhere?!
