Fun with Sri Toys: Review & Giveaway

If you follow us on Instagram, you’ll know that I often post mini frustrations with the amount of plastic we’ve purchased T over the past two years. Mainly a particular brand that rhymes with hoot hoot. Don’t get me wrong, it has it’s uses, and the toddler enjoys playing with it – but more often than not I spend more time building it with for him than T spends actually playing with it.

And don’t get me started on the vehicles that will drive you mad quicker than you can say hoot hoot.

I much prefer wooden toys – although I understand from a toddler’s point of view that the addition of flashing lights and annoying sounds is more appealing, although T does still enjoy playing make believe but he has to be in the right mood. I like wooden toys simply because they last longer and look (and smell!) a lot nicer.

Caketoppers Cupcake Delivery: Review & Giveaway.

By now you should know that I love cake. I love cake so much that I decided carry on breastfeeding T thanks to the 500 calorie burn a day it offered; knowing full well I’d be able to eat more cake that way (joke – kinda). What’s even better is when you don’t even have to leave the house to get cake, or get changed for that matter.

So when the folks over at CakeToppers recently invited me to try their cupcake delivery service, I did anything but scoff at the chance. The scoffing came later!

CakeToppers specialise in the delivery of personalised cakes and cupcakes, and can be delivered the next day if ordered before 2pm! Simply choose from a choice of vanilla or chocolate, and then decide what photo or logo you’d like on your cake!

We decided to print our logo onto our cakes as we wanted to see if all the colours and intricate details could be copied like for like.

Our Top 5 National Trust Locations (South East) & Giveaway!

We’ve been National Trust members for quite sometime now, making the most out of it when T started walking.

What we love about the locations within the National Trust is that you’re always spoilt for choice when it comes to what to do. The majority of the locations often come with historic buildings, but if that’s not your cup of tea then there is always a picturesque walk to enjoy – whether it’s woodland, gardens, or open fields. And if that doesn’t float your boat then there’s always the cafe that serve some of the best tea and cake!

Trying to pick a favourite location is like trying to pick your favourite chocolate bar. It depends on your mood. Sometimes I fancy exploring a castle. Sometimes I want to walk through the woods. But whatever I fancy, I know that the National Trust will be able to provide. Continue reading

A Birthday Giveaway with Toddlebike2!

The Toddlebike2 is probably one of T’s most favourable modes of transport bar being carried! Whenever we take the Toddlebike2 out with us and give T the option to ride it he’s on it from the start to the very end of our walks.

Watching T grow with the bike has been fun to watch. He started riding the bike by sitting on the central bar, however at almost two he now sits comfortably on the seat! It’s only then when I realise our toddler has grown!

Giveaway: Cheeky Wipes ‘All-in-one Baby Wipes Kit’.

I’ve known Cheeky Wipes ever since I met them at a baby show many moons ago, before T was even born. They’re a local company to us and are one of the nicest brands to work with. Last month, they even sponsored me to go to BML16 in London.

If you don’t know who Cheeky Wipes are, they’re the makers of the reusable baby wipe. They also make reusable feminine products, however I’m not daring enough to try those just yet.

I’ve saved a ton of money by using Cheeky Wipes, and considering I was quite against the thought of adding to my wash load, the use of Cheeky Wipes really hasn’t added to it at all. I’m even tempted to give cloth nappies a go for the summer months when T fancies running around in just a nappy.

This month, Cheeky Wipes have kindly offered one lucky winner to win an ‘All-In-One Baby Wipes Kit’ worth £39.99! We purchased this kit whilst at the baby show and it’s still going strong despite several “challenging” episodes. We found this kit to be the best when starting out and has proved useful when we wanted to freshen T up during his sweaty days.

In the kit you’ll get:

  • A ‘Fresh’ Baby Wipes container.
  • A ‘Mucky’ Baby Wipes container – with mesh bag insert.
  • A ‘Fresh’ Baby Wipes waterproof travel bag.
  • A ‘Mucky’ Baby Wipes waterproof travel bag.
  • A 10 ml bottle of ‘Fresh’ Baby Wipes Essential Oil.
  • A 10 ml bottle of ‘Mucky’ Baby Wipes Essential Oil.
  • White cotton terry wipes.

7 Reasons I Love Babywearing (Giveaway).

If follow us on Instagram, you’ll already know that I love Babywearing. Don’t get me wrong, I love our pram, and often get buggy-envy, but having T close to me is something really special.

From the first time I went to a sling library, to the moment I got to grips with a woven, it’s been fun (in a sweaty, frustrating, why-won’t-he-go-any-higher kinda way).

If you’re thinking of Babywearing, whether it’s via a stretchy or a buckle based carrier, here are my top 5 reasons why I choose to carry T.

1. You can multi-task. Cooking? Cleaning? Gardening (OK, maybe not). There have been countless times I’ve needed to keep my Velcro baby calm whilst still trying to get on with stuff, and 9 times out of 10 the cuddle of a wrap has helped. It’s also been there for when Oscar has needed a walk at the same time as T needing a nap!

2. Bonding. Closeness is crucial to a babies’ development, so investing in Babywearing promotes this 100%.

3. Feeding on the go. Although I haven’t quite mastered feeding T on the move, I’ve given it a good go, especially when T’s only needed little top up after waking from a nap.

4. Comfort for T. When being put down wasn’t an option, or when T had a light case of colic, putting T in the carrier gave him comfort.

5. Calories! Regardless of whether I’ve just walked the dog or popped to the shops, it’s likely I would have burnt a extra calories. More cake!

6. It’s cheap. Although there are some exceptions, most stretchy wraps, soft structures carriers, or mei tais will be cheaper than your basic travel system!

7. It’s fun but addictive! Thanks to the different colours and designs, it’s very doubtful that once you find your carrier you’ll stop at one. It’s not helped with the endless Babywearing selling pages that keep popping up!

My first taste of Babywearing was in the form of a stretchy wrap. It’s forgiving fabric meant I could quickly put T into a basic carry and we’d both be comfortable for the duration of cooking dinner.

If, like me, you could do with something similar, the lovely folk over at WeMadeMe are giving away a The Wuti Wrap™ (RRP £49.99) which is a hybrid, two-way stretchy wrap made from a unique, breathable material that stretches both lengthways and crossways. The innovative combination of both woven and stretchy fabrics ensures it is super-strong and flexible – perfect for wrapping baby in!

The first nine months of baby’s life is when they crave the most comfort and security. The wrap, therefore, enables baby to make a gentle transition from womb to wearer with as little separation as possible.

It is so comfy and the best bit of all it is so lightweight and fits in a teeny pouch so you can have it with you always!
